Backlit Banners and Light Box Graphics for Illuminated Displays

Backlit banners are printed on a translucent or semi-transparent film designed to glow evenly when lit from behind. They are used in illuminated light boxes, trade show displays, retail backdrops, airport advertising panels, and menu boards. The result is a vivid, high-contrast image that stands out in any lighting condition — day or night.

What to know before you order.

Backlit printing requires different color calibration than standard print — colors that look correct on a regular monitor will appear washed out when lit from behind. We adjust the color profile for backlit output. Provide your artwork and we will handle the technical adjustments to ensure the lit result matches your brand.

Good to know before ordering

Backlit banners only work inside an illuminated light box or display system — they will look washed out and dull in a non-lit environment. If you do not already have a light box frame, discuss this before ordering. Backlit is not a substitute for standard vinyl in outdoor or unlit indoor settings.

Questions About Backlit Banners

Do I need a special light box to use backlit banners?

Yes. Backlit banners are designed to be used inside an existing illuminated light box or display frame — either LED or fluorescent backlit. If you already have a frame, we print to fit. If you need both the frame and the graphic, let us know and we can discuss display system options.

How are backlit banner colors different from regular print?

Backlit printing uses a semi-transparent film and requires adjusted color profiles — standard print files will produce colors that look too light or faded when lit. We convert your artwork to a backlit-optimized color profile so the final illuminated result matches your brand colors accurately.

Can backlit banners be used for restaurant menu boards?

Yes — this is one of the most popular uses. An illuminated menu board with a backlit graphic creates a premium, easy-to-read display that works in both bright and dim dining environments. We can produce the graphic to your existing frame dimensions.
