Southeast Texas Signage
ADA signs are required by the Americans with Disabilities Act for any room accessible to the public or used by employees. The requirements cover room identification signs for permanent spaces — offices, restrooms, conference rooms, exits, and other designated areas. Getting this right matters: non-compliant signs expose building owners to ADA complaints and potential legal liability. We fabricate ADA signs that meet federal standards and look professional inside your facility.

Specs & Options
ADA sign placement is as regulated as the sign itself. Room identification signs must be mounted on the latch side of the door, at 60" centerline height, positioned so a person can stand within 3" of the sign without being in the door swing. Restroom signs require the ISA (International Symbol of Accessibility) if the facility is accessible. We provide a placement guide with every ADA sign order and can walk you through mounting during delivery.

Good to know before ordering
ADA standards apply to permanent rooms and spaces — they do not govern temporary wayfinding, trade show signage, or exterior directional signs. If you need directional signs ("Restrooms →") rather than room identification signs ("Restroom" mounted at the door), those are a different product category and have different requirements.

FAQ
Any room or space that is identified by a permanent designation — restrooms, conference rooms, offices, exits, stairs, and mechanical rooms — requires an ADA-compliant sign if the building is subject to ADA requirements. Most commercial buildings built after 1992, or those that have undergone renovations, are required to comply. If you are unsure which spaces need signs, an interior designer or accessibility consultant can do a quick walk-through.
ADA room identification signs require: raised tactile text (letters at least 5/8" tall and 1/32" high), Grade 2 Braille below the text, a non-glare finish, minimum 70% contrast between text and background, and mounting at 60" centerline on the latch side of the door. Pictograms (for restrooms and exits) need a 6"×6" field. We fabricate to all of these standards.
Yes. ADA signs can be produced in virtually any color combination, as long as contrast requirements are met. We can match your brand colors, your interior finishes, or provide samples to coordinate with your existing décor. Acrylic ADA signs are available in dozens of opaque colors.
Grade 2 Braille is contracted Braille — it uses a system of abbreviations and contractions to represent common words and letter combinations, making text more compact. ADA standards require Grade 2 Braille on all room identification signs. We use a calibrated Braille translation process to ensure accuracy and cell spacing meets ADA tolerances.
The ADA applies to businesses with 15 or more employees or those open to the public, regardless of size. Even small retail shops, restaurants, and professional offices that have public restrooms typically need compliant restroom signs. The risk of non-compliance is a formal complaint filed with the DOJ, which can result in remediation orders and legal costs.
